An Open Mind

Through an open mind we come to know how others see the world and learn new ways to achieve that for which all humans strive, knowingly or not--peace of mind and happiness.

OPEN MIND QUOTES:

An open mind is a mind of curiosity, wonder, learning, infinite possibilities and a beautiful desire for understanding.

Staunch opinions and attitudes that close off new ideas and experiences hurt the most they who harbor them.

There is nothing sadder than a young person who closes his mind to things about which he knows nothing at all.

There is nothing sadder than an older person who closes his mind to things about which he knows nothing at all.

To assume that a person, based on their heritage, age, sex, color, beliefs, education, occupation and politics has nothing to teach you is foolhardy.

A person open to all things and ideas is by default wiser than the one that is not.

When you are open to everything, nothing is impossible.

With an open mind, your realm of positive possibilities grows more expansive and so does your realm of positive probabilities.

To have a mind open to all things and ideas is to mirror the mind of the creator.

Through experience, labels and sensory based judgements, it is human nature to categorize and assume to know things and people completely when in fact you can't possibly know anything completely through experience, labels or judgements.

To close yourself off from wonders that cannot be seen, heard or touched is to deny yourself the joy of infinite possibilities, and perpetuate the belief that you are a small person in a small world--and that is what you will remain.

When asked if contemplating the size of the universe made me feel small, I said "no, it makes the universe seem really big." He would not have understood my next thought so I didn't say it--"Consequently it makes me feel really big."

To assume that if your senses can't detect it, it isn't there is to deny the existance of radio and TV waves, x and gamma rays, wireless internet and worlds as yet unknown.

To look at the stars and feel small is to assume you are separate from them, from others, from all things. This is an assumption of the ego, a denial of your true essence, and does not make you humble, it makes you a lonely, fearful victim of someone elses doing.

The stuff you are made of was created inside stars. Some of that stuff was created only after billions of years, when a star exploded.

Your body is of the stars; the stars are of your true essence.

The smaller and more fearful you feel, the more separate and sensory your current outlook. The bigger and more joyful you feel, the closer you are to knowing your true being, in which all things exist.

To a molecule, an atom is small, to a nucleus, an electron is small, to a universe, a galaxy is small-to think you are small or big is to think you are separate from inner and outer space when all the while you are a part of it. How can you compare yourself to what you are?
