THE MEANING OF LIFE
THE MEANING OF LIFE is a somewhat confusing phrase with multiple associations. The most literal definition might better be described as the purpose of life. For there to be a purpose, there must first be intent. Intent by what? That which allows creation, possibly. And so the creative force of the universe, whether you call it God or The Source or whatever else, might be generally described as an entity of awareness or conciousness.
When a person dreams, the dream-self is aware of events that unfold around it, whether it is an active participant or silent observer. When the dream-self observes the dream, it might not be aware of itself, only that things "are". Sometimes, the person "awakens" during the dream, and this is the same waking-state conciousness that is aware during waking hours. The brain is having a dream, and you, the real conciousness, suddenly realize that you are dreaming. You have awakened inside your own dream. So you control it and have fun, manipulating the dream, making your wildest fantasies come true until you wake up or lose awareness.
What if...and it's a big what if, The Source or God or Awareness or Conciousness was aware, like a brain having a dream, but not aware of itself, as a dreamer might not be until becoming "lucid"? Maybe life, you, are the result of the Creative Awareness "awakening" to its own existence and becoming self-aware...maybe you are the Universe or God becoming aware of itself! We're getting closer to the meaning of life...
And so to seek the meaning of life could be the wrong question. In this case, "life" is not the question, it's the answer! It answers the question, what is the meaning of conciousness or awareness? The answer to that is to become self-aware, like the lucid dreamer. And how might an awareness become self-aware? By creating a derivative entity and making that entity part of itself, and through that entity, come to see and know itself.
Your purpose, your meaning then is to simply exist, and through your experiences, to teach the Source that which exists beyond pure conciousness. But as humans evolve, they ask more questions, and seek happiness through action and material things. What they don't realize is that the desired result of their happiness-seeking is to know joy and peace, but the joy and peace they seek cannot be found in material things. Though there is nothing wrong with abundance, it is not what brings joy.
The Joy of Being
itself is the origination of all peace and happiness. So if you have been given a divine purpose, it is simply to be. To elevate yourself above mere existence, it is your purpose to seek the Joy of Being.
For many, the meaning of life is a mystery that is hidden somewhere and may or may not ever be found. They feel that God or the universal intelligence or the creator has a divine plan for them that can be translated into something that must be accomplished by them on this planet.
Humans are not something that are created by an entity that sits back and watches what they do. Humans are a PART of creation, they are part, therefore, of the creator. When it is said that God is in everything, it does not mean that a tiny piece of god lives in everything, it means that everything is a part of God, or the creator, the universal consciousness. You are not of god, you are PART of God, as are plants, rocks, planets, suns, everything. This may be where the meaning of life originates.
The spiritual meaning of life is that all things are connected. You are connected to God and to trees and other humans and water and stars--the very atoms of your body are older than you can imagine, and they once resided inside of one or more stars. Everything originates, is connected to, and is part of the source--the One. The consciousness that became aware of itself and knew that it was. You are that consciousness manifested in form.
When the consciousness became aware, it could not know its own bliss of existence because it had nothing to compare it to. And so it created you and the rocks, animals, planets, so that it could know suffering and joy and pain and ecstacy, and thus better know its own bliss. That is the paradox of the joy of being; One cannot know joy without knowing pain and suffering.
That is the meaning of human existence--for the Source to better know the joy of being--for you to better know that you are part of the Source. God lives vicariously through you. That is your purpose. To further describe your purpose, it is to feel the joy of existence that can only be felt by pure consciousness, while still in human form. Few will achieve this-Jesus was one. Buddha was another.
Your meaning of life is what you make it, and is defined by what you teach the source from which you came, through your existence. Your meaning is the translation of your physical action, your thoughts, your desires, fears, joys, and everything else that you the human feels into the One, underlying consciousness, or as many refer to it--God. The term God generates misunderstood feelings in many because most religions teach that humans were created by, and are separate from God, and God will come down and "smite" them if they are not good. This interpretation of God makes people much easier to control than telling them that they are part of God.
Your meaning and purpose is to know the joy of being, that to which all happiness and good feelings point, all the time, without requiring a reason, no matter what happens. How do you do that? You do that by knowing that what happens doesn't matter.
That answer is so simple that you might search for complicated, hidden meaning. But there is no hidden meaning. Nothing that happens ultimately matters. Neither does it matter what DOESN'T happen.
You are.
That is all that really matters. Even as you are part of the Source, like the original source, you are in a dream state, not knowing your true self, but knowing there is something underlying your existence. To become truly self-aware, not just of your body-mind, but of your originating source, you must awaken from the dream. By contemplating your existence, the universe, chemistry and quantum physics just as Einstein did, you will catch glimpses of your true self, The Source, God. It might just be that only a chosen few humans have ever, will ever truly awaken while still in human form. Is this the meaning of life?
But there is good news--EVERYONE AWAKENS to pure conciousness from the sleep of human form. And because you dreamed the human dream, you will truly know yourself and the eternal joy of being that the Source did not before you and the others existed.
If there is meaning in life or a purpose to be sought, it is in awakening before the dream is over.
