Outside Influences Affecting Happiness
Some examples of outside influences that might change your ACTUAL HAPPINESS in the short term would be a traffic jam, finding a one hundred dollar bill on the ground, a nooner, a flat tire, a speeding ticket, a snide comment from a supervisor or co–worker, a smile from a good looking girl or guy.
Teach yourself to bask in the positive things, lingering in the good they give off by mentally listing all the good feelings that result from them. When your mind recalls these positives less and less, force yourself to relive the feelings often. The more your mind stays on the positive, the happier you will be.
As for the negative influences, simply allot them as little brain-time as possible and move on. Let’s say someone mentioned that you are looking fatter than usual. Once you have felt dissed and have determined the species of the person’s mother and decided your course of action, if any, forget about it—forever. Don’t dredge that mental junk up again because you will feel the same anger, hurt and embarrassment you felt the day it happened, and why would you put yourself through that again?
Outside sources, whether good or bad are just that. The positive ones should help maintain your high HAPPINESS PREPONDERANCE and the negative ones should not affect you at all, except you’ll take the things they teach you and use them to your advantage. Hey, now!
