Positive Action
Happiness comes from within and can be maintained by certain ways of thinking, but positive action is another way to increase your happiness.
Doing
good deeds
for others, even strangers, without expecting anything in return, can bring about a feeling of satisfaction that can't be generated any other way. Though giving to charities is also good, it is the face to face encounter that brings the highest satisfaction. Practicing
good health habits
is one of the most reliable ways of feeling good and feeling good about yourself. If you are feeling down, nothing acts to bring you back up quicker than a good workout. You also feel better when you practice healthy nutrition. In this fast paced digital world, it seems as though most people don't even have time to breath.
Slow down
and enjoy the scenery once in a while. Stare at a cloud as it changes shape or watch the pigeons walking around from a park bench. Are the things that you do so important that they leave you no time for enjoyment? Build something. Or write that novel or try making a new cake, whatever it is you like to do,
creativity
can bring about some of the highest quality happiness available. And after you've created your masterpiece, how about
treating yourself
to something that makes you happy? Get a massage or go to a movie or go out for a big juicy steak--do something you wouldn't normally do for yourself and see what happens!
